Turkey to discuss steps on Syria in Washington (AP)

WASHINGTON ? Turkey's foreign minister says he will propose new ways to increase pressure on Syria when he meets Monday with Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Ahmet Davutoglu did not elaborate Friday on what steps he would discuss with Clinton.

He also tells reporters he thinks Iran is ready for new talks with the West on its nuclear program.

On Syria, Davutoglu says Turkey is looking for ways outside the United Nations Security Council to pressure Syria to stop killing civilians.

The message comes after Russia and China blocked a security council resolution that would have called on Syrian President Bashar Assad to resign.
