Community Manager

Phase2 is establishing a Community Manager position to focus on the external communities for each of our products, and to manage our efforts to support these communities with training, support, expert services, and community contribution to Phase2's products. The Community Manager will be the "first line of response" to inquiries from community members, and will work with the product teams to deliver answers to support questions, build documentation, organize and deliver trainings, and manage contributions from the community to our suite of products. The purpose of the community manager position is to build relationships with Phase2's product communities. This position is meant to be an on-the-ground community participant, dedicated to fostering Phase2's reputation in the community with a focus on responsiveness and excellence, while also building the foundation for profitable revenue streams around our products

What you could do for us

Community Participation and Contribution:

  • Participate actively as a member of the product communities for each of Phase2?s products
  • Receive requests through comm channels and ensure recording into CRM; funnel to right team members & process quickly?
  • Manage communication lists for each product and provide quarterly pro-active communication to each product community
  • Identify other activities that help establish reputation of excellence in responsiveness for Phase2?
  • Write blogs about on-trend topics for each product community
  • Attend conferences and meet-ups and submit sessions, BOFs, or meet-ups at these conferences

Community Contribution:

  • Identify members of the community interested in contributing code, themes, translations, and apps back to P2 products?
  • Contribute information about potential community participation back to Phase2?s product building plans
  • Manage communications between contributors and product development teams to ensure proper definition of requirements, testing of code, submission of code through proper contribution channels, and inclusion of code in product builds
  • Provide credit back to the community through marketing efforts (blogs, case studies, and public announcements) to community members contributing to P2 products

Documentation Activities:

  • Identify documentation needs in each community through regular monitoring and engage P2 teams and community in documentation sprints, then publish documentation through wikis for each product community
  • Identify opportunities for publishing or advanced documentation

Training Activities:

  • Identify product-focused training needs in the community
  • Engage consultants and team experts to develop trainings
  • Engage community members to provide trainings at Phase2 and manage their use of Phase2 training facilities
  • Execute trainings at camps, on-site at Phase2, and at conferences as needed
  • Provide training through custom training engagements with implementation clients
  • Provide regular webinars and online trainings
  • Record training materials back to product documentation as appropriate

Your qualifications need to be

  • Candidate must have experience with communications to a live or online community, or in customer service for a technical product or service. Open source or software product communities a plus
  • Experience and comfort level with developing and writing technical documentation is necessary for this position
  • Experience facilitating or providing formalized training is key; experience in developing online or video training materials is a plus
  • Must be willing to travel and speak on behalf of the company, and project a professional image while maintaining a sense of rapport with the product communities. Public speaking and the ability to prepare and deliver excellent presentations is a must.

  • Superb communication skills with both technical and non-technical contingents of a software community.
  • Technical writing capability
  • Public speaking capability
  • Experience with wiki software such as Confluence or experience in developing and maintaining documentation sites/ wiki pages
  • Excellent writing skills and attention to detail
  • Responsiveness and desire to maintain responsive culture is very important
  • Follow-through and persistence to answer customer questions is key
  • Understanding of Drupal and/or participation in the Drupal community is a plus?
  • Experience with screencast and/or video editing software is a plus
